Refunds
Thirty days. No form. No questions.
If the library isn't worth the money, email us within 30 days of any payment and we'll refund it in full — even if you downloaded everything and used it every day. This is the policy we will honour, whatever the checkout page happens to say.
The short version
Email hello@seconddraft.dev from the address you paid with, within 30 days of the payment. Say “refund” and give us the receipt or order number if you have it. We reply within one business day, cancel the subscription, and send the money back to the card or account you paid from. You don't have to explain why, fill in a survey, or send the files back.
What the 30 days covers
- Your first payment. Thirty calendar days from the day the first payment clears.
- Every renewal. The same 30 days applies to each monthly renewal, not just the first one. If a renewal catches you by surprise, you are still inside the window.
- Annual or prepaid plans, if we ever offer one. Thirty days from the payment, for a full refund of that payment.
- Business purchases. The same terms. A business buying for its staff gets the same 30 days as an individual.
What you get back
The full amount you paid for that billing period, including any sales tax charged on it. We don't keep a “processing fee”, and we don't deduct for the days you used it.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Polar, our checkout and merchant of record, processes the refund; your bank or card issuer usually takes 5–10 business days to show it. We'll tell you when it has been sent, and you'll get Polar's confirmation as well.
How to ask
- Email hello@seconddraft.dev with the subject Refund.
- Send it from the address you paid with, so we can find the order. If you paid with a different address, tell us the one on the receipt.
- Include the receipt or order number if you have it. If you can't find it, your name and the date of payment are enough — we can look it up.
- We reply within one business day, usually the same day. No form is involved at any point.
You can also use the customer portal linked in your receipt. If it offers a refund or cancellation button, it works; if it doesn't, email us and we'll do it by hand. The email route is never the slower one on purpose.
What happens to the subscription and the files
When the refund is processed, the subscription is cancelled immediately and no further payments are taken. Your licence to use the library ends at that point, so please stop using the files and delete any copies you have. We don't chase people about it, and we don't treat a refund request as a reason to be difficult about anything else.
If you want to come back later, you can subscribe again at whatever the price is then. We don't blacklist refunded customers.
Cancelling is different from a refund
You can cancel at any time from the customer portal, and access continues to the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not refund the current one. If you are still inside the 30 days and want the current payment back as well, ask for a refund in the same email — we'll cancel and refund together.
Outside the 30 days, we don't refund months you've already used. If the charge was a duplicate, a billing error, or something you didn't authorise, tell us and we'll refund it regardless of the date.
If something went wrong
If a file won't open, a download link has expired, or the library isn't what the site described, email us first. We'll fix the file or refund the payment — whichever you prefer. A refund is not something you have to argue for.
Please email us before starting a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback takes weeks and usually gets resolved faster by a two-line email. It also costs us a fee that comes out of the same small budget as the writing, so we'd rather just refund you.
Your legal rights
This policy sits on top of your statutory rights, and nothing here removes them. If the consumer law where you live gives you a longer period or a stronger remedy, that law applies. In the UK and EU, the standard right to withdraw from digital content can end once a download has started with your agreement; the 30-day policy above is offered in addition to that rule, not instead of it, so you still get the full 30 days from us.
Why the policy is this generous
Because the product is a folder of writing, not a lock-in. You can see three complete prompts before you pay, and you can read every kit and every trade on the site. If the paid library still isn't useful to you, keeping $12.99 would be a bad trade for a customer who might otherwise say something good about us. The refund is cheaper than the resentment.
