Terms

The deal, in the same language as the rest of the site.

What you are buying, what you may do with it, what happens when you cancel, and what you cannot hold us responsible for. The subscription page carries the price and the billing schedule; the refund policy carries the 30 days. This page is the rest of it.

One business, unlimited staff use Cancel any time Drafts, not advice

The short version

  • You pay $14.99 a month, the same every month, until you cancel.
  • You get the library for one business, and the people who work in it can use it too.
  • You can cancel whenever you like and keep the months you paid for. Within 30 days of any payment you can have it back in full.
  • What comes out of a prompt is a draft. You read it, correct it and decide whether to send it. It is not legal, tax, medical, insurance or engineering advice.

Who you are dealing with

Second Draft is the trading name of a business owned by Brenn Cornec, an individual, based in Mariposa, California, United States. There is no company behind it. I write the library, run the site and answer the email.

Payments, sales tax, receipts, invoices, refunds and the customer portal are handled by Polar, which acts as merchant of record — so Polar is the seller named on your receipt, and your payment contract for that transaction is with Polar. If you need the name and address for an invoice or a purchase order before you buy, ask at hello@seconddraft.dev and you will get them in writing.

The subscription

  • Price. $14.99 a month, charged at checkout and on every renewal, with no introductory rate and no other change except as described under Price changes below. There is no setup fee and no annual lock-in. The full schedule is on the subscription page.
  • Renewal. It renews automatically on the same day each month until you cancel. Polar emails a receipt each time.
  • Cancelling. Any time, from the customer portal linked in every receipt. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for; the next payment is not taken. Cancelling is not a refund of the current payment — if you want that too, ask within 30 days and you get both.
  • Pausing. If your account offers a pause, the library closes while it is paused and reopens when it resumes. The dates are shown on your account page.
  • If a payment fails. Access continues for a short grace period while the card is retried, so an expired card does not lock you out mid-job. If it cannot be collected, the account drops back to the free pages, and nothing you saved is deleted.
  • Price changes. The price you are on does not change during a period you have paid for. If the price for new subscribers changes later, existing subscribers are told before it would apply to them, and cancelling stays one click.

Refunds

Thirty calendar days from any payment, including every renewal: full refund, no form, no reason required, even if you downloaded and used everything. Email hello@seconddraft.dev from the address you paid with. The refund policy is part of these terms and is more generous than the law requires, not a substitute for it.

What you may do with the library

  • One business, unlimited internal use. Use the prompts and kits for your own business, on any job, as often as you like, and share them with the people who work for you.
  • Edit them. Change the wording to sound like you. That is what they are for.
  • Keep what you downloaded if you cancel, and keep using it under this licence. If you take a refund, the licence ends and you should delete your copies.
  • Not for resale. Do not resell, republish, bundle or give the library to another business, and do not use it to build a competing product or a training dataset. One subscription per business.
  • Not for anything unlawful, and not to impersonate a person or a business.

The output can be wrong. Read it before you send it.

A prompt gives you a draft, and drafts contain mistakes. An AI assistant can invent a price, a date, a policy, a name, a promise, a citation or a fact that sounds right. It can be confidently wrong about the law in your area, about a product, about a safety rule. That is true of every prompt on this site, including the ones marked Starter, and it is true of the free tools' output when you paste it somewhere else.

So: check every draft against the facts you know before it reaches a customer, a staff member or the public. The prompts are written to leave missing facts as visible brackets and to list the assumptions they made — use that list. The free checker catches unsourced prices and dates, named staff, promises and leftover brackets, and it still cannot tell you whether a sentence is true. Nothing on this site decides anything for you, and nothing here is legal, tax, accounting, medical, insurance or engineering advice. Where a job needs a qualified person, the prompt says so and you should listen to it.

What you are responsible for

You decide what to send, post or file, and you are responsible for it once it leaves your hands. That includes the facts you supply, the permissions you have for customer details, and whether a message complies with the rules of your trade. If you paste customer or staff information into a prompt, that is your call and your responsibility — Your details page is for business facts, not for other people's data.

The account

  • One account per person or business. Signing in is a link sent to your email, so keep access to that mailbox secure; anyone with it can sign in.
  • You can download or delete everything at any time. What deletion removes is listed in the privacy page.
  • We may suspend an account that is being used to resell the library, to scrape it in bulk, or to attack the site. Where it is not urgent, you get an email first and a chance to explain.

The weekly drop and revisions

While the subscription is active, a drop is published weekly: five prompts for one business type, a template and a tool. If a week is missed you are told it was missed rather than left to notice. Prompts are revised when something is wrong with them, each revision dated and listed on What changed. A prompt may be corrected or withdrawn; nothing you downloaded is taken back.

Availability

We aim to keep the site and the library available, but there is no uptime guarantee, and the site can be down for maintenance or because a host limit was reached. Downloads you already have keep working when the site does not. If an outage is going to be long, it is announced on the site when it returns and by email to subscribers.

Changes to these terms

These terms change when the product does. The date at the bottom moves, and the change is listed on What changed. The version in force when you paid governs that payment; a later version applies from your next renewal, and if you do not accept it you can cancel before then and keep the period you paid for.

Responsibility, and its limit

We owe you the library described on this site, delivered with reasonable care, and a refund if it is not what was described. We do not promise that a prompt will produce a particular result, save a particular amount of time, or be right about your trade.

To the extent the law allows, if something goes wrong our responsibility is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer where you live. If a term is found to be unfair or unenforceable, the rest of these terms still stand.

Which law applies, and where a dispute goes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, and a dispute that cannot be settled by email is for the state or federal courts serving Mariposa County, California. If you live somewhere else, this does not take away the protection of the consumer law where you live, or any right you have that cannot be given up by agreement. Before anything formal, email — most problems are a refund or a fixed file.

Getting in touch

Email hello@seconddraft.dev. Brenn reads it, and you get a reply within one business day. Say what went wrong and what you would like; a refund does not need an argument.
